This is a photo of Torino Express’ iconic window in the Gemmayze area of Beirut. It’s one of the oldest bars in the area, which is now infested with identikit shitholes that make horrible drinks and blast crappy music. This place has a soul, as evidenced by the people who call it their second home. It’s also regularly packed with backpackers, because Europeans have the good sense to include it in their guidebooks. You’ll find some of the more interesting characters in Beirut there. You’ll also find the likes of my friends and I, which is far less interesting.

They’re pretty good with most cocktails. Nothing girly or fancy mind you, it’s a bit of a left-wing haunt. I love the crumbling bar stools and rickety tables.
